How to promote your Atlas
As an aid to help you get your Atlas (itinerary) approved as fast as possible, we created a few recommendations to help guide you through the process:
How detailed should descriptions be?
Include all essential information, and feel free to add additional details if you think it would benefit the traveler to know (for pleasure or utility)
Where should I include the location of activities?
Be careful not to reveal the locations of the activities in the descriptions that are public (atlas title, summary, about you) or the photos, but make sure to include the specific address of the Experiences in the appropriate field (which will be hidden until purchase).
What types of activities should I post?
Try to avoid posting major tourist attractions, unless it's an essential piece to your trip and you have a unique insider perspective on how to experience it best.
How should I gather the right photos?
Remember to group any photos you might want to include in one place for easy access, or transfer them to your computer desktop before posting. Including people in the photos is up to the itinerary creator.
Skim through the demo Experience and atlas to get a better idea of what details to share!
Think of a trip to a place you know well and gather photos of Experiences (activities) in an album
Most people start with a day trip, you can always add to it later. Plan for around 3-4 experiences per day
Add Experiences in the Atlas Builder including essential logistics and personal recs.
Add general trip details that help the traveler prepare for and have the trip. Once there is a green check in the top right corner, you can submit it for review!
Each Atlas is a trip itinerary from your unique perspective. You may like more outdoor experiences or you may have a specific activity interest that you try to see each city through. A few examples are:
Camping through (location)
Seeing (city) through its coffee shops
A photographer's view of (city)
Vegan eats in (city)
Best running routes in (city)
Quick Day trip from (city)
The cornerstone of our Atlases are adventure travel experiences.
Adventure travel content that's in the "middle 80%". If you imagine a spectrum of activities with the most touristy activities on the far right 10%, and the most fragile secret places on the far left 10%, we hope to share the middle 80% of unique adventure travel activities.
Adventure travel is defined as any activity based in local culture and nature, typically with physical activity.
However, a well rounded Atlas includes lots of important information like food, transportation, lodging, and must-see’s. It’s like a friend is visiting from out of town and you’re recommending what they should do. You can choose to do a general itinerary of the best activities or a specific perspective (like a food tour or best views).
Simple Content Checklist:
The Atlas has a few adventure travel experiences
Travelers will know where to get a couple great meals (even better if they are unique to that destination)
Personal tips for around getting from place to place are included
can you find most of the Experiences easily on Google? (It shouldn't be easily found online)
Are each of the itinerary details sections at least 3 sentences?
Including a personal insight about your perspective of a location? or insider tips on how to have the best experience?
Are there places or cultural customs that locals would want travelers to know about? (in order to enjoy and treat the environment with respect)
Do the photos show the main activity of the experience without revealing name?
Does the title creatively capture the theme of the Atlas?
Do all the experiences have the exact address of the activity?
Does the “About You” section explain why your perspective is valuable?
Once your atlas is submitted, it will go through a short review process to confirm each section is appropriately filled. If the atlas needs edits, an email will be sent to revise the atlas. Once all edits are approved the atlas will be public on the marketplace the next day!
